Çifteler Harayı Hümayunu
The Çifteler Harayı Hümayunu, the “first stud farm” of the Ottoman Empire, is not only the first of its kind, but also a pioneer for its peers. With the establishment of the Çifteler Harası (Harayı Hümayun) in 1815 to raise the animals (horses, cattle and sheep) needed by the newly established Nizam-ı Cedid Army, rapid change began in Eskişehir and its region. It was shown as a model in a number of fairs and promotional activities both in Turkey and abroad. The horses raised here also went beyond the Ottoman borders.
