A music competition is held between Apollo, the god of art, and Pan, the god of the fields, who is famous for his flute. When King Midas, who is the judge of this competition, gives credit to the one who deserves it and declares Pan as the winner of the competition, Apollo becomes very angry with this result. He curses Midas by saying that his ears cannot distinguish good music and turns his ears into donkey ears.
